LinkedIn Keyword Alerts: How to Get Notified When Someone Posts About a Keyword (2026)

Updately Team·Updated 2026-10-29

Short answer: LinkedIn can alert you about new jobs, but not about new posts that mention a keyword. You can search posts, sort by Latest and check daily, which works for about five keywords. Beyond that you need a monitoring tool. Few cover LinkedIn posts because LinkedIn has no public search API for them. Updately scans LinkedIn hourly for your keywords, scores each post for relevance and sentiment, and alerts you in Slack, Discord or email, together with X and Reddit, from $49/month ($39/month billed annually).

Does LinkedIn have keyword alerts for posts?

No. LinkedIn has job alerts (new job postings that match a search) and it notifies you about activity on your own posts and from people you follow. It has nothing that says "tell me when anyone posts about [keyword]."

That's a problem for B2B teams, because LinkedIn posts are where buyers announce things they never say on a company website:

  • "We're finally replacing our old CRM."
  • "Anyone recommend a tool for [problem]?"
  • "Our contract with [competitor] is up next month."

Each of these is a buying signal with a short shelf life. A LinkedIn post gets most of its attention in its first couple of days, so finding it a week later is often too late.

The manual routine: search, sort by latest, repeat

LinkedIn's post search is the only native option. To make it a routine:

  1. Search your keyword from the main search bar.
  2. Click Posts in the filter row. LinkedIn defaults to People, so this is the step most people miss.
  3. Sort by Latest, so new posts aren't buried under older popular ones.
  4. Set Date posted to Past 24 hours.
  5. Bookmark the results URL for each keyword, so tomorrow's check is one click.
  6. Check every morning, read the new posts, and note the ones worth acting on.

The limits you'll hit:

  • No reliable boolean. Quotes, AND and OR don't behave consistently in post search, so it's one phrase per search.
  • No push. You only see what you go looking for, when you remember to look.
  • It doesn't scale. Twenty keywords checked daily, with each post read and qualified, takes an hour or more. Most teams keep it up for a couple of weeks.

We cover the search itself, and how to qualify what you find, in how to find LinkedIn posts by keyword.

Why Google Alerts doesn't work for LinkedIn

A Google Alert for site:linkedin.com/posts "your keyword" looks like a shortcut. In practice Google indexes only a fraction of LinkedIn posts, and only after crawling them, which can take days. You hear about a small share of posts after the conversation is over. It's fine as a free extra, not as your monitor. More on that in Google Alerts alternatives.

Tools that send LinkedIn keyword alerts

LinkedIn is the hardest major platform to monitor. There's no public post search API, so tools have to scan it on a schedule, and no tool is truly real time on LinkedIn. Hourly is good. Coverage also differs a lot by plan, so check what your plan includes before you buy.

A few notes:

  • Trigify, which many teams used to watch LinkedIn keywords and engagement, ended its standalone platform on October 22, 2026. If you're rebuilding those searches, see the Trigify migration guide.
  • Syften and F5Bot are good Reddit and community tools, but they don't cover LinkedIn at all.
  • Enterprise suites like Brandwatch cover LinkedIn, but they're priced for large brand and PR teams. See social listening tool pricing in 2026 for the full price comparison.

How Updately monitors LinkedIn

Updately's social listening treats LinkedIn as a first-class source, not an add-on.

  1. Create a listener with your keywords: switching language, recommendation requests, competitor names. You can also track specific profiles, such as competitors' founders or the analysts your buyers follow. Starter covers 10 tracked terms and profiles; Growth covers 30.
  2. Updately scans LinkedIn hourly for new posts that match. X is also hourly; Reddit and Bluesky stream in real time. All are on every plan.
  3. Each post is scored by AI for relevance to your business and for sentiment, so a vendor marketing at other vendors ranks below a buyer asking for help.
  4. Alerts go to Slack, Discord or email. On Growth you can also send them to a webhook or export to CSV.
  5. Act on the post. Reply yourself, or push it into a signal so the author is checked against your ICP and contacted on LinkedIn.

You can also work from Claude. Add https://api.updately.ai/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, then ask "Show me LinkedIn posts from this week where someone asked for a [category] tool." Claude can use create_keyword_group to set up the keywords and fetch_posts to read the results. Setup is in the MCP docs.

Price: Starter is $49/month ($39/month billed annually) with 10 tracked terms and profiles, 3 listeners and 7,000 credits a month. Paid plans have a 10-day free trial. See the pricing page.

Which keywords to track on LinkedIn

LinkedIn posts are written in a more polished voice than Reddit or X, but buyers still describe problems in their own words, not in your category name.

Keyword typeExampleIntent
Switching language"moving off", "replacing our", "migrating from"Highest
Recommendation requests"anyone recommend", "what are people using for"Highest
Frustration with a competitor"[competitor]" + "frustrated", "again", "support"High
Category in buyer language"tracking deals in a spreadsheet"Medium
Competitor names"[competitor]"Medium

Two LinkedIn-specific filters matter more than on other platforms:

  • Sellers vs buyers. A large share of category-keyword posts are vendors posting at each other. If the author's headline names your category, they're a competitor, not a lead. AI relevance scoring handles most of this.
  • Reposts without comment carry almost no intent. Skip them.

What to do when an alert arrives

  1. Read the whole post and the comments. Someone may have already answered.
  2. Comment first if there's an active thread. A useful public reply is seen by everyone reading, not just the author.
  3. Message within 24 hours while the post is fresh. Reference what they actually wrote, and don't pitch in the first message. Our signal-based outreach templates have examples.
  4. Log what converted. After a month, keep the keywords that led to conversations and drop the rest.

FAQ

Can LinkedIn notify me when someone posts about a keyword?

No. LinkedIn only has job alerts and notifications for your own network and posts. Keyword alerts for posts need a monitoring tool such as Updately or Octolens.

Does Sales Navigator have keyword alerts for posts?

Sales Navigator improves people and account search, and alerts you about leads and accounts you save. It doesn't alert you to new posts from anyone that mention a keyword.

How often do LinkedIn monitoring tools check for new posts?

Usually on a schedule, because LinkedIn has no public post search API. Updately and Octolens Pro check hourly. No tool is truly real time on LinkedIn.

Can I get LinkedIn post alerts in Slack?

Yes, with Updately (Slack, Discord or email on every plan) or Octolens. KWatch.io adds Slack from its $79 Business plan.

Can I monitor LinkedIn, X and Reddit together?

Yes. Updately covers all three plus Bluesky and Hacker News in one listener. See Twitter keyword alerts and Reddit alerts in Slack for platform-specific setups.

“Updately gave us control of what we were doing as opposed to giving the keys and letting them go. But most importantly, the reason why we joined Updately was because it was a third of the price of the agency that we were using to do a similar type of outreach.”
