Getting Started

Connect your LinkedIn account

Updately sends from your own LinkedIn account, so this is the first thing to set up. Two minutes.

Everything Updately sends — connection requests, messages, comments — goes out from your real LinkedIn account. Nothing happens until one is connected.

Connect with your password (start here)

  1. Open the LinkedIn section of the app.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Log in to LinkedIn on the page that opens.
  4. Complete any security check or 2FA prompt it shows you.
  5. You'll come back to Updately with the account listed as active.

That's it for most people.

Sign-in happens on a dedicated secure page, and 2FA and security checks are handled there. Updately does not keep your LinkedIn password.

If sign-in loops

Some accounts — usually ones with strict security settings or unusual login history — get stuck in a loop where LinkedIn keeps re-asking for verification. If that happens, connect using your session cookie instead.

  1. Install the Cookie-Editor browser extension from cookie-editor.com.
  2. Open linkedin.com and make sure you're logged in.
  3. Click the Cookie-Editor icon.
  4. Find the cookie named li_at.
  5. Copy its value.
  6. Paste it into Updately's cookie field and connect.

Install Cookie-Editor from the link above rather than searching your browser's extension store. Several copycat cookie extensions exist, and a cookie extension can read every session you have — email, banking, everything.

Your li_at cookie is your live LinkedIn session. Treat it exactly like a password: don't paste it into anything else, don't share it, and don't keep it in a document.

Sessions expire — that's normal

LinkedIn sessions expire every few weeks. When yours does, Updately marks the account disconnected and pauses your campaigns and signals so nothing is attempted with a dead session.

Reconnecting takes the same two minutes — but remember to switch your campaigns and signals back on afterwards. See LinkedIn account disconnected.

One more thing: don't double up

Running another LinkedIn automation tool on the same account at the same time is the fastest route to getting restricted. The limits each tool enforces only work if it's the only one sending.
